We visit the main Technology and Industry 4.0 hubs, companies and institutions, and experience the state of art, and of the industry in the smart cities and connected countries we visit, along the way.
Travelling by MOTORCYCLE means hearing the sounds, smelling the air, feeling the rain, with no barrier between us and the people around us, even though it also means being exposed directly to hard environmental conditions. There may be faster ways to travel, but motorcycle travel fits our purpose completely, and it's also one of our main passions!
SR40 EXPEDITIONS AND ADVENTURES
The SILK ROAD is our core adventure, following the ancient Silk Road networks over approximately 10.000 km through 15 Eurasian countries from Austria to China, over a duration of six months.
We started in Austria in Spring-Summer 2018, and crossed Hungary, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and across China, and back to Europe via Kazakhstan and Russia.
The expeditions are designed to raise media awareness, promote European technology partners, and test our workflows, remote connection capabilities and technologies, for future expeditions. At the same time, we're road testing and developing a suite of highly-useful travel-tech products, but more about that, later...
THE EUROPEAN IoT CHALLENGE
The EUROPEAN IoT CHALLENGE is a contest that helps us identify IoT and new tech, devices and applications that we can use to enhance or ease long-distance motorcycle adventure travel, in terms of planning, navigation, comfort, safety, security, maintenance, communications, video recording, media broadcasting, AI, ML, AR, VR, XR, or simply for enhancing the fun of riding it.
We have held a number of warmup and shakedown expeditions building up to the SILKROAD 4.0 expedition, including some big rides around South America and Europe, as well as some test rides in very remote and rough terrain, to pre-test the gear we were planning to hard-test across Eurasia.
During the Summer of 2017, the European SILK ROAD 4.0 pre-expedition media tour took us approximately 6.000 km through 16 European countries, in two months. Starting in Austria, we crossed the Czech Republic, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, and back through Switzerland, to Vienna.
We want to share the experience and adventure of:

We broadcast our insights about other cultures' ways of doing things, of interacting with each other, their use of internet, IoT, navigation, and the level of technology in their industries. Mainly because it's interesting in itself, but also because we think that in order to open dialog and business opportunities, it's important to understand the way others live and behave, removing boundaries, taking away fears and prejudices.
